Demetrios Gabriel & Preventing Childhood Obesity

By Katie Arden

It's unfortunate but childhood obesity is one of the most serious problems surrounding health that you can imagine. In fact, back in 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight. It is clear that this is a tremendous problem but what can be done in order to help parents who may be rightfully concerned about the matter? Here are a few tips that Demetrios Gabriel may bring to their attention.

When it comes to the amount of food that children take in from day to day, parents should be able to manage this the most effectively. The reason that I say this is because there are parents who may go overboard with portions, no matter how healthy certain meals might seem to them. Even the best foods to an extreme can amount to weight gain. There has to be a certain medium found and, if this is the case, moms and dads do not have to stress about obesity.

You want to help your child become acclimated to a healthier lifestyle but you never want to come across as stressing. Parents may have goals to meet and while Demetrios Gabriel can understand such a point, you never want to force them onto your children. Not only will this make children more stressed but the truth of the matter is that they may be that much more unlikely to eat better. Gabriel Pediatrics, as well as other medical authorities, can support a slower burn to a long-term healthier lifestyle.

What about the idea of the entire family taking up a better lifestyle in the long term, though? Your children are not the only ones that have to follow through with this; in fact, I'd argue that a parent adopting certain eating patterns is probably the best course of action that can be taken. After all, children are far more inclined to follow their parents, as they are able to lead by examples. Believe me when I tell you that the benefits in regards to health will spread.

All of these points - and then some - are worth taking into consideration if you are concerned about childhood obesity. The best way to focus on this matter is to also give focus on the food that is eaten and to make sure that portions are managed well. You want to make sure that meals, while hearty, are not too substantial. In addition, sticking with a similar regimen yourself will only help to make the most desired results for your children come about that much more easily.
